Almost a month

Wow! It's been almost a month since I last blogged!

Lots of up and downs this month.
  • My girl and I subsequently fell ill after one another.
  • Dealing with lost mails which was most infuriating
  • Trying my best to keep onto schedule to sew items but failed terribly due to lack of sleep and concentration
  • I guess the only UP point of this month is planning a short trip to somewhere (anywhere is good!)

During this month, I also did some serious stock taking and realise I have quite a few boxes of fabrics that need to be cleared in order to make space for new stuff.
I guess if anyone was to rob me, I would have nothing but fabrics to offer to him only (^___^)

Pressure Pot

That's how I feel right now. Stuck in a pressure pot.
Emails yet to reply. (Please give me all your queries in one email for faster response. Thanks!)
I still have orders from 31 May yet to be completed... ~_~

As much as I love sewing, sometimes it can be abit too overwhelming and being a one-man show is not easy.
It's when times like this when I wish I can have someone to look after my girl.
I really dont remember the last time I slept before 12am. ..

Things to be done once all the delayed orders are completed:
  • New fabrics to be uploaded
  • To edit and upload photos of completed items
  • Try out new ideas
  • Squeeze my blackheads (hahahaha!)
  • Highlight my hair before it becomes the color of a pudding :-g
  • REST
  • SLEEP SLEEP SLEEP!!!
Still got two more items to sew and I can head onto my warm bed.........

Discontinued fabrics

Here are two items which will no longer be valid in the fabric stash and solely for viewing only.

Here is one of my favorite fabric (did I mention that before?) and after sewing this tote plus a wetbag, I will no longer be placing this fabric up for sewing projects.
I checked with the supplier at least umpteen times whether it will still be in print. Sadly, the manufacturer have decided to discontinue it... :___(
While searching for my minky fabric the other day, I found the below fabric squash in between the boxes. Well, I guess I can still make a tote out of this fabric.

____________________________________________________________

When I first purchase this fabric, everyone ooh and ahh about it commenting on how cute it looked. But as months goes by, there is still no buyer for it. How disappointing.
All was not lost until a mummy made an order to have it sewn into a wetbag for her son. :-)

When my girl saw the completed item, she goes, "Many many elephants... Blue color... Pink color..." So adorably cute! (sometimes.. :-p )

One year anniversary

It's been an official year since the launch of SugarFringe website.
What started out as a hobby, slowly became a part time job for me. Of course, my main priority is still to take care and witness the growth of my little girl.

I would like to say a BIG Thank You! to all who have supported me and really appreciate the patience. There are times when I made blunders to some of the orders but they have been understanding enough for me to make amendments to it.

Over this year, for those that has been following my site will noticed that there has been several revamps. With the current version being the most easy to navigate (I think).

When I first started out, I underpriced my items a great deal. Yes, I did gather a few sales then. But soon with the high material cost, effort, responding to emails and long labor hours, it soon became very strained for me to carry on. Now everything is back on track. I stand behind my work and is proud of it.

When you buy from SugarFringe, you can be sure that you are buying a special creation that is specially handcrafted with attention.

Love,
Sugar

Bifold Diaper Clutch

As seen above is the diaper clutch with a large packet of wipes and two Mamy Poko XL Diapers. Due to the size of the large wipes, the zip closure will be omitted for easy access to the wipes.

This wristlet is half diapee holder, half wipee holder- rolled into one.
It holds up to two Huggies diapers and a packet of travel wipes + diaper cream.
With an internal zipped pocket plus external velcro closure, you dont even have to worry about items falling out.
It looks nothing like a bulky diaper bag. The diaper clutch could be carried in your handbag, diaper bag or an extra for the car.

You can even switch it's contents and use it as a bag for yourself, and it comes in a variety of prints to choose from.

Personally, I think this is great for toddlers!

Dimensions when folded
Length - 10"
Height - 5.5"

A customize order for the above item.
This mummy wanted a bag to place in the car for her toddler's diapers. So we decided to use the idea of the passport holder and expanded it for diapers and wipes.
However, this design is not suitable for placing in big packet of wipes (too bulky) and more apt for travel packet only.

I'm really sorry...... :-(

For those that have just received my latest newsletter, I am so sorry for not checking my "To" list and accidentally clicked "Send" without making a final check.

I feel so upset with myself now for making such a stupid mistake. :-(

I think I should dig a hole in the sand and be an ostrich now............

Wetbags - Disney Princess and Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland.
This is one of my favorite print from the Alice's series and I love how every characters from the story is brought to life in this lovely fabric. Sadly, I no longer have any of the fabric left...

A very detailed and good quality fabric featuring the princesses of Disney. Great for little girls!

Coin and card pouch

I cant believe that I made a blunder in this order!
It should be sew using quilted Little Twin Stars fabric but I got mixed up and sew it with vinyl fabric instead.
arghhhhhhhhh!

This coin and card pouch is sewn upon request and I must admit that the smaller the item, the harder it is to sew. :-o
I thought it is kind of plain for the exterior and add in an additional pocket to expand the functionality of this purse by allowing it to squeeze in a packet of tissue.
hmmm..... Hope the buyer will like it........

Improved version

The last passport cover wasnt perfect with its horizontal Little Twin Stars design.

Thus, I have sewn the characters in a vertical manner and made the pockets deeper so that the passport won't drop out easily. Personally, I dont see a need for a closure so I didnt add that onto the passport cover.

New additions to the Mochi Series

It has been a long time since I last sew the Mochi bags. When I received the order to sew it in vinyl and quilted fabrics, I was quite thrilled! New additions + new textures. :-)

As mentioned in previous post that vinyl fabric do not look good with cotton polka dots fabric. Thus for the above bag in Little Twin Stars print, it has to be sewn in vinyl material for the external only.
I love vinyl fabric! However, due to the nature of the fabric, it can get quite restrictive when sewing certain designs. *shucks*

Passport Cover

Left a bit of the fabric stash from Vlts02 and decided to try out on sewing a passport cover.
Not too bad for a first attempt but still have areas to improve further. :-)

Diaper bag - Little Twin Stars

This is my third diaper bag that I have sewn so far. All three bags belong to the same group of friends. kekeke
Unlike Kate Spade or Coach diaper bags, I am not able to sew that much of compartments into the interior except for pockets for bottles and other misc stuff.
So a bag organizer is still required to better sort out the items.

I also notice one thing. Little Twin Stars's fabric loves to include sweets or cakes in their fabric pattern. hehe Sweet tooth!

Little Twin Stars Teatime

After completing the tote in the same fabric in blue tone, I knew I have to do something similar using the pink fabric.
Here it is in size S complete with zip and button closure.
If you are interested in it, do email me at sugarfringe@gmail.com to order. :-)

Oooh, my girl saw the tote and pointed at it and said," Bag bag, mei-mei." hehehe
My girl sure have good taste!

Sesame Street's Twirly Skirt

This is my girl's favorite fabric (for now!) and she loves to use it to wrap it around herself and parade around the house.

After I put on the skirt for her, she kept pointing to Elmo and Cookie Monster and started admiring herself in the mirror. :-)
Best part is when I asked her if she wanted to be a model and let me take some photos. She happily nodded and ran up to her "posing spot" waiting for me. ^_^

She loves it so much that she refuse to let me take off the skirt and if possible, I think she will even wear it to sleep. hahaha :-D

Simple joys that warmth my heart.

My Melody mini skirt

A lovely little skirt for a lovely little girl.
Took this photo by chance and only then I realized how tanned she is! argghh!
She has been learning how to dress herself lately and these skirts are great for that.

I love how she looks in it! hehehe

Finally revamped my site

Everytime I viewed my own site, I wasnt exactly pleased with it. I resolved to have it tidied up someday. Thus, for the past few months I have been looking for freelance web designers to revamp my site. However, most of the quotations were out of my budget.

That someday never came until last night.

No idea what spurred me on but I worked late into the night till 4am! Without any signal of tiredness!
I sourced for help through forums and finally understood the codings meant for Blogger. Armed with the newfound knowledge, I attempted a rollover menu for my header. It worked! (I'm a self-proclaimed genius hahahaahaha)

Everything looked so much neater now!
  • No more lengthy listings along the sidebar.
  • Removal of chat box. By the time I see those chat messages, it is always a few days later.
  • Rearrange my postings and labels
  • Decreased font size
  • Larger images

After thoughts :
I love the background image but I am undecisive on how well it blends in with my site. So I will leave it there first till I find another image to replace it.
While going through my postings, I realized that I hardly featured what I have created. I definetly sew more than what was listed.
Have to keep blogging............
